From Almeria or Malaga, Take the A7 E15 Motorway towards the respective cities then follow signs for Malaga from Almeria or Motril/Almeria from Malaga. We are pretty much between the two in the province of Granada. Exit at KM373 for the A345 road that runs up from the coast at Albuñol/El Pozuelo to Cadiar. Follow signs to Albuñol then Albondon. Our un-named road is on the right about 10 minutes after Albondon, (before Cadiar) between the 7km and 6km markings. See the map above. There is a bus stop and a low white building with LB painted on the side at the top. Our track is less than a minute from the top and is on the right immediately after a small grey garage type building.
Directions to Cadiar (coordinates: 36.946400 - 3.176100) are easy to find on AA Routeplanner. If you have any problems, just call. Our Cortijo is also now on Google Earth but you will find it under its colloquial name of Cortijo Jorge. Why? Because this is Spain!
We find Almeria the most convenient airport, just over an hour away. Malaga is sometimes a little cheaper but two hours away. Easyjet flies to both and they have a good hand luggage allowance if you travel light. Many other airlines fly to Southern Spain from most areas of the UK so there is plenty of choice. http://www.easyjet.com/en/
Car hire can be very cheap here if you know what to look for. Check Money Supermarket for Car Hire deals or use a broker such as Zest Car Hire https://www.zestcarrental.com/spain.
Don't be drawn into extra insurance if you have already paid on booking. If you are concerned about extra cover for the underside, tyres and windscreen of the car, do book the extra insurance usually offered by the broker on their website and bring the document with you. You will also need the credit card you used to book the car and both parts of your licence. Personally, we have never experienced any problems that require extra insurance but we have been talked into buying it at the airport - be aware that the staff are on commission.

We are Ali and Ian Burton. We bought Cortijo Serafin Corral nine years ago in the Autumn of 2007 after Googling "place in Spain with most hours of sunshine" and somehow being directed to an estate agent in Cadiar. After viewing many properties that had neighbours (animal or human), dubious legal status or required "too much work" (a bath plumbing in) we saw this 512 square metre wreck of a building, complete with rats, bats, mould and a live in tramp. Hugely overpriced, it would require years of hard work and something approaching a lottery win to put right. We agreed that we would be mad to touch it. But it nestled in almost a hectare of land and (on 100 days a year including that one) had perfect views of the Med and beyond to the mountains of Africa. The bees hummed, the butterflies fluttered. By that winter it was ours.
Having indeed worked hard to create a home for ourselves and a completely separate space for our guests we now look forward to sharing the unique beauty of our little corner of Spain with you.
Airport runs are often possible if requested on booking.
If you really don't want to bother with car hire and are happy to spend your whole holiday walking or cycling from the Cortijo we can pick you up from the airport but do be warned that we are 5 or 6 miles from the nearest town so it will be a real "get away from it all"!
